| The goal of Earth Science Week, conducted annually by the American Geological Institute in partnership with NASA and other sponsors, is to encourage students, educators and the public to explore the natural world and learn about geosciences.
This year's theme is Understanding Climate, and NASA is offering a variety of multimedia products and educational resources designed to improve understanding of global climate change.

 This six-episode web series, produced by NASA, explores the importance of Earth’s ocean in global climate change, from its critical role in regulating Earth’s carbon balance to the potential threat of rising sea levels on coastal populations.
